Welcome to the Student Guide on Using AI Responsibly and Creatively!

As a student at Simon Balle All-through School, you have access to cutting-edge AI tools designed to enhance your learning experience. This section will help you understand how to make the most of AI in your studies, whether for research, revision, or creative projects.

Click here for the ‘Student Guide to using AI’, which includes:

  • How We Expect You to Use and Think About AI: Understand the school’s approach to AI: it’s a helpful tool, not a shortcut. Learn when it’s appropriate to use AI in your studies and how to stay in control of your learning.
  • Benefits of Using AI: Find out how AI tools like ChatGPT can support your revision, explain tricky concepts, give feedback on writing, or help you brainstorm ideas.
  • How to Give Detailed Prompts: Learn how to ask better questions and give more detailed instructions to get the most accurate and useful responses from AI tools.
  • Safety and Privacy When Using AI: Know what information is safe to share and what to keep private. Learn how to protect your data and use AI tools responsibly online.
  • Plagiarism Warnings: Understand the risks of copying AI-generated content and how to make sure your work stays original. We’ll explain how AI can help with thinking—not doing the work for you.
  • Using AI for NEA/Coursework: Important rules on when and how AI can (and cannot) be used in coursework and NEA. This section explains exam board expectations and how to avoid malpractice.
  • Using AI Responsibly: A reminder that AI is here to support your learning—not replace it. Learn how to use it ethically, think critically, and always take ownership of your work.

By the end of this guide, you’ll be well-equipped to use AI effectively, responsibly, and creatively to support your studies, ensuring that you are not only a great learner but a thoughtful, ethical digital citizen.

Watch this short video to learn how students at our school can use AI responsibly and effectively to support their learning:
